SMLE No.1 Lower forewood - Coachwood

This replacement part has been precision CNC machined from locally sourced timber. All parts are check fitted against a reference action and barrel, however will require fitting and finishing work to match your individual rifle. If you do not have the requisite skills and tools to complete the fitting, we recommend engaging a gunsmith or other competent person. Referenced in Ian Skennerton's book 'The Lee-Enfield', coachwood was the primary timber used for stocking Lithgow (AUS) manufactured rifles.

A number of earlier British rifles have been noted refurbished in the early 1940's with the original timber replaced with this timber.  Coachwood is a timber species found on the East coast of Australia varying from light to medium darkness, with a pinkish hue.
